Does anyone have any info on the fishing in south eastern Vermont. I'm going to visit in-laws in the Vernon/Brattleboro area. Just wondering if it's worth dragging along some gear.
Thanks Fellas.......

</td></tr></table>The Conn. river runs right thru downtown Brattleboro, I have fished a few tournies there, good fishing in the setbacks on the NH. side right from shore there are a few spots to fish. Spring would be a good time for that.
good luck.
Not sure about any other waters there.

I think we'll be there the third weekend of May. Are there any baits/color I "need" to take? I really don't want to have to bring a huge bag of tackle.
Thanks Again....

If you could hook up on BBC with a boater from the area its worth it IMO. River bass fishing is supposed to be good in that stretch of the Ct. My club used to do a yearly outing up there before I joined. Unless its changed since the 90s I dont believe licenses are reciprocal between Vt and NH on the river.
Farther up from Brattleboro on rte 9 towards Keene NH is Spofford Lake. Its the only lake(according to the fishing guide) in NH with pike. According to reports on a local website in Ct the bass fishing is good there also. There are a lot of smaller lakes above Keene near 9 that a local guy could help you with. I have a friend who used to vacation that area and the report on the bass fishing was always good.
If a Mass guy can hook you up there are some ponds near the border of NH and Ma that are good. Tully lake North of Athol on 32 is one good spot that Ive been to.
edit; the week you think your going to be there the ABA has a tournament on Tully

There are smallies, largies, pike and walleye to be caught in there.
I would say the water will be slightly stained to clear so watermelon red flake plastics, chart. and white spinnerbaits, brown or pumkinseed jigs and a few topwaters should get you something. 5 inch kalin grubs or spidergrubs, senko type baits should be more than enough. May, they should be spawning or close to it. What would u prefer to target?

That's a decent lake with really tough parking. If you're going to try that place out on a weekend, get there really early. I got out there a little before 7am one weekend...parking lot was full.Sucks to drive an hour and have to turn around. Place is loaded with rock bass, but there's good smallie and largie fishing as well.
As soon as I get the dates nailed down, I'll start up hitting fellow BBC boys from the area for a little boat time. If there's any tounrneys going on at that time I would love to be a back seater! I just have to get my dates set......
Thanks Again Boys

If your not familiar with the ABA all you have to do is pay the membership fee on their website. Then your eligigible to fish any tournament they run. If you show up as a non boater you will be paired up at the launch. Its always best to contact the director. I also noticed the spelling on the ABA website for Tully is different. Must be an error because I couldnt find any lakes in Mass spelled Tulley.
