    Bunk Board Hardware

    I have a 1998 187 and the trailer needs some work. I am wondering if anyone had suggestions on replacing the bunk board support brackets. My bunk boards were visibly a disaster when I put in, and when I looked to get measurements etc to replace the bunks and carpet, I noticed the "L" brackets that are welded to the frame are almost completely rusted through where they attach to the bunks.

    Does anyone know of replacement "L Brackets out there for ChampioN Trailers?
    Any suggestions on getting new brackets manufactured?
    Has anyone replaced them or used brackets like these?

    I'd rather not go with option 3.... The "L" Brackets look so much better and make the look of the trailer so much "smoother"....

    best bet is find a welder and have new welded up, if you can take the boat and bunks off it should not cost all that much.

    Check with MFI trailers. They might be able to help. They made parts for the Champ trailers which were made in-house during roughly 04 and later time-frame. Or, check with local trailer parts suppliers.

    What does the rest of the trailer look like. If it is a tube trailer design there might be more serious problems lurking. Sometimes a new trailer is the best option if there is too much structural compromise.

    I have these in my UFP trailer and I don't recommend them. FYI to anyone with these brackets: Tighten them regularly. Otherwise, your bunk boards may roll on you.

    If it isn't something you can do yourself bring it to a trailer repair shop and let them give you a price. Some things are better left to the professionals if you don't know what your doing.
