I am in need of a lifting eye for a V-8 Johnson. It is supposed to take a special eye to lift the V-8 because it's about 700 LBS. I can't afford to drop this motor. If anyone knows where I can buy or borrow this tool, I'd appericate all the help I can get. Already went to the local shops, no help.
The same setup I prescribe will work on the V-8. 5/16X 3.5" X24 pitch bolts and a harmonic balancer puller with large eye bolt will work. Just bottom out the 5/16" bolts into the flywheel.
Yeah, I saw that. Does the eye bolt need to fit the puller or be small enough to go through the center and have a nut and washer under the puller? Should the 5/16 bolts be grade 8?
I'd use a 1/2 inch eye bolt or what ever goes into the puller. #8 is fine ase long as you get 24 pitch bolts.
How do I tell how which drive shaft lenght I have, 20" or 25". The Model # is J275PLCUR, Serial Number is G7462898, if that'll help.
