Someone want to talk me out of this please......

I have a G Loomis GL3 SJR782 spinning rod that has been untouched. I never fish it because I prefer my Dobyns split grips . I've built few rods and I've made a few full cork rods into split grips. I'm toying with the idea of making my Loomis a split grip. I know it will come out fine but it likely will destroy the re sale value if I ever choose to part with it. What advice can you sage's pass along to me.....should I go for it? My other option is to try and trade it off and get a Dobyns 683 to replace it. Anybody got one to trade?

Are you just going to convert your current handle to a split or completely remove it? I also don't necessarily believe it will drop the value.
If you don't like the rod, I would look at trading it. If the only reason you don't fish it is because you don't like the full grip, convert it.

I really do like the blank of that rod. It's got a great backbone and fast tip. It would be a killer tube rod and it is one of Loomis' most popular models. I think if I do convert it maybe I'll take a bunch of photos during the process and put them up.

I would try to trade first. But if you decide to convert definitely post pics.

Id sell it. If you alter it and screw with the balance it wont feel the same at all let alone sell for any descent amount.

If you have good experience in building rods than I would change the grips. You like the blank and know how to build rods! Go for it!

So far the biggest I've seen is 16.9 in the river. I heard a rumor that FWC shocked 25lber this past spring in Rousseau but I only heard it from one guy who owns a tackle shop about 10 miles away from the lake.
