RPM'S for 1994 200 Johnson Venom

I finally got my new (to me) Champion on the water and love it. I'm not at the point, yet, where I need every last ounce of performance but if there's a problem or easy fix, please give me your opinions. It's a 1994 190 DCX with a '94' 200 Johnson Venom. It has a 27 renegade prop (I'm guessing too big from earlier posts). Best it did was 58.7 mph and 5000 rpm with one in the boat. No jackplate on boat and don't plan on one...first boat to learn on and don't want to sell the farm to set-up. I thought it should get mid 60's with 5800 rpm's.

5800 is safe. 6000 is max. Not sure on speed numbers on a champion but the 27 gade is way too big. Could try a 25 gade or a 24 raker. If you do want a jackplate, they don't cost much. You can find them here or on e-bay at resonable prices.

should be able to get a 24 raker off ebay for about 125.00 and should make a big difference..

here is my set up 201 DC/FS '89 Champ with a 2000 200 Johnny (carbed) 9.5 inch Rapid Jack plate on it turning a 24" Raker. Full T load with me and BM Run 66.3 GPS as fuel burns off and our normal 0 fish ! Runs 68.7, me alone light I can bump 70 if conditions are right. 3.25" below pad. 20 PSI full trim, 5600-5700. Bow lift good. CM
