Does anyone on here have U-Verse? If you had Dish network before, how does it compare to it? I am considering switching to U-Verse, but I have had good luck with Dish network. The money saving is really appealing!

What money saving?? I thought that too and its been anything but savcing money
We have Uverse, had either Dish or Direct and Uverse is hands down 10 times better than anything we got from our previous provider. Pict is great, channel selection is really good, depending on the package you get. Flat out, we wont be getting anything else.

I went from Directv to Uverse. Save $70 per month. Love it.
Swapped from DirectTv, Bellsouth house and DSL to AT&T U-verse, DirectTV bill was $90.00 per month for 2 rooms and one DVR NO premium channels that was with the service protection and tax. Bellsouth with house and as much DSL they could give got pared down after telling them I only wanted DSL to $85.00. W/UL long distance and local calling. Was $130.00/MO. AT&T Uverse, HS internet, three rooms recievers with a record all DVR with Showtime, Starz and most everything else, with UL long distance and local land line for $139.00/mo for a year. I'd say that is a pretty good savings. I have had it a month now and am happy. Plus I got a $250.00 cash VISA card for making the switch.![]()

I had cable and then switched to U-Verse. Here is the breakdown:
Pro's:
-Can get good rates and promotional deals
-A lot of channels (HD channels also)
-Can get a lot of premium (HBO, STARZ, etc) for good deal
-Hook you up with DVR boxes and they are easy to use and nice to have
Con's
-Everything is run off internet connection (Internet surfing, downloads, video streaming, TV). Because of this if someone is recording a show/movie or if you have 2 TV's watching HD channels at the same time your internet is slow because the recording is tapping into your internet speed. Was REALLLLLY annoying at times and ATT told me there is nothing they can do about it. Would have to wait for youtubes to buffer FOR EVV EERRRR before being able to watch them.
-Sometimes watching TV you get unexpected BS connection because the TV is running off a modem. Cause channels to freeze up and cant watch them.
-AT&T customer service is the WORST I have EVER had. Takes them forever to get a technician out to set up your service or fix any problems. They are also idiots when you talk to them on the phone. I have talked to AT&T reps in the U.S. about a problem then talk to a rep in India a day later and they give you 2 different answers and don't correspond with each other in their system. Just pathetic communication and coordination and seriously the worst CS I've ever had in my life with any company. Dead Serious.
I like the U-Verse itself a lot and hate AT&T as a company and their customer service. Clear as mud?![]()
Go into an ATT store and play with the Uverse for a while and see if you like it or find out if a neighbor has it and check it out.
One of my favorite channels is NFL Redzone during football season. You get to see action of every game even if it is not in your market when they get into the redzone. Sometimes they will have 3 boxes up at once then go to each game as they snap the ball.![]()
Really like be able to play back recorded shows in another room. Or able to record off of any TV in the system. Can use an XBox as a cable box to avoid paying box rental fee. The wireless box is pretty cool. You can take the box out to the garage and hook it up to a tv to fiddle around out there and still watch whatever you want.
Picture quality is great and setup is really easy. Ton of HD channels.
I have had it for 2 years now it is imho better than other services but like said above the CS is lacking big time and the price now is not worth it to me. Either they are going to make some drastic changes on my bill or I am.
We've had this discussion before, but to repeat, I switched to UVerse about 8 months ago and am solidly impressed with it. Not only is it more consistent/reliable than the cable service I had previously (Time Warner), but it's saving me money. When you compare rates, be sure to go apples-to-apples. I've heard of people paying well over $150 month, but that depends on how many channels you're getting [premium levels], how many TVs are connected with how many DVRs, and of course the internet speed. I am on the internet every day, sometimes for several hours a day, but don't do much movie streaming or that sort of thing. Some large file downloads, but not much continuous streaming. For me, the 6 mbs internet service works great, and honestly I could get by with 3 mbs. So not every household needs their highest internet speed. As you go up the "tiers," service gets pricier in a hurry, and the same goes for tv channels. I have the U300, which is quite similar in channels to the HD tier I previously had from my cable company, but it costs quite a bit more to get the ultra-premium packages. So if you sign up to see every NCAA basketball and football game in America, don't be surprised if your UVerse bill is on the high side. I'm getting something like 400 channels and very workable internet for a touch over $100 a month [less in the first year, not to mention the bonus they paid me to sign up for my free conversion]. I can live with that.
An issue I was having with it was losing connection a lot and what the service guy found was the install guy only ran one line in to the DVR box and then jumped it off to my wireless router....So the service guy ran another line in, straight to my router, and it seems to have taken care of the issue....![]()

Had time warner - kept on getting disconnected, especially during big football games. Switched over to Uverse and whaddya know... the same thing kept on happening.
I really didn't notice an improvement at all and yeah, their customer service really doesn't seem to know what's up with anything at all... and I cancelled my service.
Been cable-free for the last 2 months and it's hard but with my support group, I've been making it!!!!![]()

We have had U-Verse for almost 4 years now and when it works as advertised I love it but it's been a love hate relationship. We have the phone, internet and TV bundle and we have had multiple internet and TV problems. It's taken a few service calls but we seem to OK for now.
Over the years we've had cable and Direct TV and even with the U-Verse problems I still like it better.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

No Sunday NFL Ticket, I'm sticking with my DirecTV. My son has U-verse and I have more channels in HD then he does as well.

I had U-Verse for all of two weeks. I was never told that you can't have two dvr's in the same house. that was the deal killer for me.

Why would you need 2 dvr's? I can record from any room in my house that has a receiver..........up to 4 shows at a time...man, did I just sound like a commercial?![]()

I live with my sister and we have completely different tastes. she records her shows and I do mine in the man cave downstairs. you can't record two different shows and watch two other shows at the same time.
