    Flatside Crankbaits

What are some of your favorite flat side crankbaits? Looking to pick some up for the early season I imagine the best are going to be custom but looking for any input on models or anything.

Lazer Custom Balsa Crankbaits. Really Like the LZ1 runs about 5-6 ft on 10lb test. Good cold water crank. Like the bomber flat baits also.

The only two kinds of flat sided crankbaits I've ever used were Bomber Flat A Series, and some Mann's Flat sided crankbaits I've had for a few years. Never tried any custom ones.

The Strike King Custom Shop baits are excellent. Also Lee Sisson Skinny P's are great (caught my personal best on one). I just picked up some of the new Lucky Craft Kelly Jordan flat sided baits and they run excellent. Haven't got to fish it but I did run one and it runs excellent.

And if all else fails, the ole Bomber Flat A is pretty damn hard to beat.

Can't beat Craig Powers cranks. A lot of people thinks hes all about the p70 popR and he is. But he makes some killer cranks also. Top notch

I have a set of flatsides for sale in the lure sell section. Some Craig powers custom and other east tn hand mades. I have way way too many and just thinning the herd. Made a great deal if someone wants to get a start on a collection.

Like Tony said Lazer Custom Balsa CB's, I have also had some success with the Dweller CB's from Fishermans (used to be Fishermans Quaters in Dayton), and I like the Spro Lil' John too.

    Re: Flatside Crankbaits (teeboy)

I've got a few flat sided coffin lip Poes cranks. Those things are nice. Wish I had more. They will pull through anything.

And UNLIKE the other poes cranks the lips/line ties actually hold up.

Well, as you can tell by my avatar, Gary Dees' D Baits! I've tried a bunch of the hand made flat sided baits and often sold-off those that didn't produce. I've won more money on a D Bait than any other lure in my box. I always have one tied on a cranking rod. They are at their best being bounced around wood...through a laydown tree or around a stump. You only need 3 colors: Black back/silver foil sides for stained water (of if you're only going to buy one), Mustard for dirty water, and Grey/silver foil sides for clear water.

    Re: Flatside Crankbaits (Puma Jim)

The best for our area are made in and around Cincy, Lazer, We-baits, D-baits. You might also want to try some of the square bills similar to the old Dartin-R. D-baits and Lazer make good ones also.
