I have found a 2004 Evinrude 135 DI. Model E135FSLSR. This motor is brand new. Any idea on what type of ball park price this motor is worth? If I could get this for a great price, plus get at least $1500-$2000 out of my 97, Johnson 130, I think it would be worth a look.
Is the 2004 135 a good motor? Have there really been any advancements on new versions of this motor (non ETECs)? What would I pick up in fuel mileage differences between this and my 97 carbed motor?

The 135's are good engines, they sip fuel due to the fact that they are the lowest horsepower on the engine platform. This also extends the engine durability. Use XD-50 or XD-100 for the lube. Change the spark plugs every 100 hours or sooner if you notice running quality changes. As far as comparing fuel to the Johnson 130, the cruising range will almost double if set up right. It is a V-6 so you need to make sure the steering is rated for it. At least dual cable rack or rotary, or hydraulic. The trade in price is good, not sure of the value on the 135, not my dept. I can only tell you how to make it go.
