You can mix synthetic and standard oil, that would be a blend and there are a lot of blends available to buy these days.

You really shouldn't mix different viscosities unless you absolutely had to. No long term damage would result, it will get you to your next oil change.

I can tell you that the difference between 5w30 and 10w30 is practically non-existent these days... and as long as the hot temp rating (the last number) is the same, it really makes no difference, even if done long term. Look in your manual - most recommend either for anything except extreme cold. 1 quart of 10w30 on top of 4 quarts of 5w30 isn't going to harm anything.
better to be full of the wrong oil than to be low on the correct stuff....mix it ...
