Is it just me or does their payouts suck?!?!? They take in over $25,000 per tournament and only payout 3K for first place??? What's wrong with that picture?? They are rapping us!!!

Does sound like a pretty low payout, but I don't see how they're raping you. You did your homework, figured out the payout ratio, and decided to either fish them or not. No one is forcing you to fish those tx's.
I always heard they paid out way down the field of anglers, had more than one big fish pot and fed everyone with a big, big spread of real good food...someone has got to pay for all that. Is there an entry fee for the classic at the end of the year? Who pays for that?...just saying!
FREEDOM IS NOT FREE-SOMEONE PAID.
Perhaps you need to calculate what they pay to all the places, not just first place. Then as some others have mentioned, they always pay two big fish checks, you get a hot meal after you weigh in. When you take the time total up the entire payout all the way down, they're paying about what any other trail is paying, more than some. And to boot, you don't have to pay a membership fee of any kind as you do with most trails now.
Bottom line is, you know what the entry fee is and what the advertised pay outs are, so it's your decision to fish them or not. However, it must be appealing to a whole lot of anglers, because at a time when most other trails are struggling or failing, they continuously average right at 200 boats per tournament.
Bobby, I guess in the end, you didn't get "rapped" too bad, considering you didn't even fish the tournament.![]()

i think the payout is fair, they just messed up by NOT coming to GASTON this year...

The first tournamnet on March 3rd at Smith Mountian Lake had 223 teams and paid back 2 lunkers @ $2,320 each and paid back 44 places. As mentioned above they also provided a meal (hotdogs & chips). They only advertise 1st place as $2000 with a 70 boat field. We always have the choice of not entering too. As far as I am concerned this is the best, close-by tournament series we have to fish with the opportunity for a good payout. There is a lot of work involved in planning, arranging a launch ramp, accepting and tracking 200 plus entry fees and applictions, insurance verification, etc and running the tournament in an effecient yet effective manner. Kudos to the Anglers Choice team.
I think all of em need to take a lesson from the c.a.t.t. Carolina bass challenge. Guys that won norman got $11,000!!!! Thats impressive for a team tx

From what i understand they had 223 boats thats 22300 dollars. Big fish cant included because you pay extra for it. If they paid out 20 places at $100 dollars which i understand they did thats only 2000 dollars. I was talking to a guy that said he finished in the top 10% and only got 180 dollars. Another gentleman said that he done the math on the payouts and they only pay out about 50-55% Dont get me wrong when i say this they do have a great trail but like said above. Looks like they may need to follow what the NC trail is doing. Paying 1 place for every 5 boats doesnt make sense 1 for every ten would be good and the payouts would be alot stronger for the paid places

An anonymous statement??
Let me ask this..... Is it true you can only win 1 of the 2 bigfish pots? My buddy won big Smallmouth and was 2nd for big Largemouth. When he was weighing, he was told he could only win 1 or the other and not both? Ended up he got beat out for big LM, but what if?
Anyone have a link with results and payout?
Pretty sure it's 70% payback. I just went back and calculated it from one of the old tournaments.
Actually you're wrong, you can only win one of the big fish pots. The second place team at SML would have had big LM and SM but they only won big SM.
No one has ever said anything bad about how the tournaments are ran. They put on a great tournament but the payouts could be a lot better. People don't sign up for tournaments to cash a $100 checks and finish 40 th. They sign up to win. I mean half the people don't even stay to collect those small checks.
200 boat fields are great but if they were to increase the payouts and advertise 1st place $6,000 (or more) they could have more boats.
Just a suggestion!
Only link i can find is this. They mention going to anglerschoice.com for payout chart but i don't see it? The results page just had points no monies.

You can go to http://centralvabasscast.com/ and look at old check ceremonies, that's what i did. I wrote them all down and calculated it out to almost exactly 70%.
That said I have no problem with it. I think the fact that they pay so many places attracts a good number of people who might not exactly have a real chance to win. They can at least get their money back.
That is why they don't show the complete payout so the payout percentage cannot be calculated. All the respectable team tournaments post their payouts, not Anglers Choice.
