    FISHING SOUTHERN LOUISIANA

MY WIFE AND I ARE PLANNING OUR FIRST TRIP TO SO. LOUISIANA. WE ARE STAYING IN CHAUVIN (20 MILES SO. OF HOUMA) FEB 25 - MAR 2ND. WE'RE WANTING TO EXPERIENCE SOME OF THE 'DELTA' TYPE BASS FISHING AS WELL AS THE REDS AND SPECKLED TROUT. REALIZING WE ARE SLIGHTLY WEST OF THE TRUE DELTA AND THE 2011 CLASSIC SITE, WE'RE COUNTING ON THE SAME TYPE OF WATER. WE FULLY EXPECT TO HIRE SOME GUIDING BUT WOULD LIKE TO FIND A LOCAL RATHER THAN A 'CAPTAIN' WITH A CHARTER. WOULD ALSO GREATLY APPRECIATE HELP WITH SPECIFIC AREAS TO TARGET FOR OUR FISHING AS WELL AS SPECIAL THINGS TO SEE AND DO.

Tell Troy Landry and Liz Cavalier that we said "Hey!"
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments

For saltwater fishing, go to CocoMarina and ask if Capt. Eugene Foret is available for hire; you will not be disappointed, although it could be a little pricey, but he NEVER comes back without fish.
Make sure if you are in Chauvin, go to the returaurant at Coco Marina and try the Snapper Coco and Wine Island Shrimp!!!!
Tell 'em a friend of Pete Foret sent you there!!

    Re: FISHING SOUTHERN LOUISIANA (JReid)

I grew up in Chauvin and live about 15 miles north. I can point you in the right direction for reds and specks, but with 2 small kids at home, my fishing time is limited. Shoot me an IM when It gets closer and I'll have a better idea on what's happening.

Don't know nothing about where Chauvin is but I just got back from bowfishing for redfish and sheepshead. We were right below Port Sulfur, La. Used Josh Galt at Scaledamage Bowfishing. Saw alot of reds, its just hard as hell hitting them with a bow and arrow...lol. Might be something to consider and its different. I had a blast.
