Wedding info please, Vegas

Going to get married soon. Leaning towards Vegas but man anything to do after the wedding is crazy $$$.
Ceremony would be at the MGM so the closer to that the better. Thinking around 50 people will make it out.
Restaurant reception is boring and $40-$100 a person.
Looked at getting a suite but the hotel has to cater and that is around the same price and tons of fees. Also have to pay the hotel for lq even though we would be spending $600+ on their suiteƂ
Trying to stay out of debt and still get married lol

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Go to your local courthouse and see the justice of the peace. You're welcome.

One of the quick wedding chapels.

Some friends had their wedding at the Graceland Wedding Chapel, and it was kind of cheesy, but a lot of fun. I know it wasn't very expensive, too.

In this economy a traditional pomp and circumstance wedding makes no sense at all. The money spent on it could be going towards a house. Looking back I wish we had gone that route.

Have a quickie ceremony then have the mother of all cookouts, maybe a Hawaiian Luau type theme, when you return. People will remember that long after a stuffy suit and tie gig.

+1

Judge came to a family members house, rented dress, noting at the wedding was not made by someone in the family, a weekend in Gatlinburg riding gokarts etc... for a honey moon.

Just as married as everyone else.

As for Vegas if you really want to go there I'd hit a chapel or trim it back to something with NO DEBT but it's your money and I wish you both all the best.

Both of you set a budget and work within it!

Stay local/home for the ceremony.

Extra money goes to the honeymoon.

Did I mention: "Set a budget, and live within it!"

Considering that the average church wedding these days including a reception for 50-100 people will run you about $10k, you really should have no problem taking out a small loan for $2k to pay for a "nice" Vegas wedding.

Congrats to you and the future misses by the way!!

Couldn't have said it any better.

If you think a weddings expensive go talk to a divorce attorney and see what a divorce costs ya these days,no comparison.

Don't know how you came up with 10k. Mine was MUCH cheaper. Hell, my wedding AND honeymoon didn't cost 10k. My wedding and honeymoon didn't cost 5k for that matter. And we didn't have a shotgun, courthouse wedding either.

Like others have said, if you must go to Vegas, go to an Elvis chapel or something like that. Going into debt for a party is NOT a good way to start a marriage.

Amen to that brother! My first wedding was a small family affair... cost was about $500 including the honeymoon (rented a hotel room for he night) lol.. First divorce cost about $5000 not including the bills I was ordered to pay that didn't belong to me!! total cost was about $15k. My second wedding was a big church wedding that cost $20k. I'm not planning to ever get divorced again because this time, it would be double the cost of the first divorce!!

10K, I wish! My wife's family is Italian and the son-in-law's family is Irish. When my daughter got married in 1999, there was NO chance that they were having small wedding. Heck, I wrote a check for almost 6K for the reception.

Elope and then have a party with your close friends once you get back. Weddings are a huge waste of money. Really what are they, just a big party for people you probably don't know, or care for and you pick up the tab.

Granted travel for guests is expensive but my bride and I got married in Jamaica on the beach. Wedding was free for booking the honeymoon. Had a couple friends that went with us. Total for wedding and honeymoon, way under $5k and that was a 7 day honeymoon!!!!!

Check with Al. As captain of the BBC ship maybe he can do it for ya.

A friend was married in Vegas. I think it was at the NYNY. They had a chapel in there and I believe they comped a nice room for them. There was only around 30 other people there and they did this. I guess times are tough for Vegas and they aren't comping anything anymore.
