I just got a smart phone and was wondering if the navonics app is worth the $10. Do you guys use it much?

I jsut bought it and I really like it. Really nice maps and good detail IMO. I mean heck, that is the same cost as 2 value meals at Mcdonald's. definitely worth that![]()

saved me once in the fog on a boat with no electronics. It's worth it to me.
Heck, if nothing else, I can sit in my office (or anywhere with signal) and pull up my favorite lake or spot and give it a look.
"heard it in a love song.........can't be wrong"
Would be to me if they offered it for Windows Phone.![]()

Its a decent app to have but not to replace the actual chip for your electronics.

+1 its ok and as was said earlier, you can pull it up anywhere and make waypoints and such. I never use it on the water though.
Get it, a nice feature is being able to take pictures and save with an associated waypoint so you have a picture reference with a certain spot.
It's also good if you go with someone else or a guide to mark positions.

You mean steal spots right?![]()
Hey but seriously, how do you use the picture part of this app?
It saved me when fishing as a coangler on lake hartwell. We were motoring to the launch site during heavy fog. GPS on boat did not have detailed enough maps to find launch. Brought up navionics on my casio commando and turned on the satellite map overlay and we easily found where we needed to be. WELL WORTH THE TEN BUCKS! It has many features of your marine gps. You can plot waypoints and tracks, calculate set and drift and many other things. Remember to download it at home as it takes about two hours to download but it is well worth it.![]()

I downloaded it this afternoon and it is pretty cool. The contour text is very small and hard to read in some spots. Is there a way to make the text or icons bigger?
