Trying to find a Country Song

I don't listen to country music but was driving out of state and listening to a country station. There was a song on I only caught part of it. A female singer probably older generation - some one with a really sad vocal. There was a steel guitar and the lyrics were something about 'when I call your name no one is there to answer'. Not the extact lyrics but something like that. The steel guitar and her voice were amazing! I know not much to go on, like a finding a needle in a hay stack, but any of you know what song that could be?

When Vince goes for the high notes, he has that sound, especially if you haven't heard him before. I think it's the right song, but we'll see.

It wasn't the vince gill song.
I hoped maybe a new one out now but think it was an older song.
The steel guitar and her voice was so sad but beautiful.
The lyrics were something about 'when I say your name there no one there to answer' but I can't remember exact words.

Leann Rimes did a remake of it and it is a recent release... that may be the one.

Don't know the song, but you wont forget the voice. Was it Ms. Krause?

Well, listened to it again and it sounded like the vince gill song with that steel guitar but it was a woman singing. Could have been LeAnn Rimes but there is no steel guitar like i heard. Maybe it was vince and after 11 hours on the road he sounded like female, lol. How embarrassing that would be.

Vince was the lead singer of "Pure Prairie League" before he went solo. I'm not his biggest fan, but have to admire what he can do with his voice

Try Youtube for some old Patti Loveless, Lorrie Morgan or Kathy Matea.

Re: Trying to find a Country Song (bass1958)

Speaking of Allison Krauss, she almost ran over me one night at the corner of 3rd and Broad in Nashville. She was trying to make a right on red without stopping and my girlfriend (now wife) grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Jen looked at her and said "damn that's Allison Krauss! You almost got ran over by Allison Krauss!!!" I was just like: "holy chit! I really almost got ran the hell over"
