Hi,
The Etec 200HO and 225HO is the same motor. Anyone known if it is possible to update the software on a 200HO so it becomes a 225HO ?

Although they have the same displacement, they do have different blocks - i.e. the ports are different. There is no software upgrade to turn a 200H.O. into a 225H.O. Besides, E.P.A. regs prohibit making these kind of changes, to the tune of about $25,000...

Your right...
Same block on 225 and 250 - different on 200
Same pistons, rod and crankshaft though..

The motor is bought late 2005. Supplier claims it is a 2006 mod (something I doubt..) What is the latest software release for the Etec 200HO ?
Last summer the motor reved 5900 rpm (approx. 49-50 knots) - now I cant seem to get it above 5700 rpm (approx 45 knots). Any suggestions ? Missing those last knots![]()
Appriciate any suggestions...
(if you suggest buy a 225HO I did, but the supplier couldnt deliver therefore a 200HO).
Model years change in July. So a engine that is ordered and purchased after July is the next model year. The latest software release only has to do with Icommand Gauge problems and nothing to do with running. Its best to take it to the dealer and let them see what software your running with and see if a update is needed. As for the lost RPM it can be a ton of different items. Have your dealer give it a go over.
