E-Tec 90 Enough RPM's?
I purchased a 2006 Lund 16' Mr. Pike with a 2006 E-Tec 90 for the cabin. I have run the motor 15 hours with a 13 7/8 x 17 aluminum prop. The motor is turning that prop at a maximum of 5150rpm fully trimmed out. I swapped to a Turbo
13 1/4 x 17 stainless and I am now only turning 4850rpm.
Both numbers are two guys in the boat, half tank of gas, average gear. The motor runs smooth as silk with an idle of 550rpms and a great holeshot.
I brought the boat to the dealer where they put the motor on the computer. All is well they say, with 60% of my 15 hours running over idle speed. They told me that the motor is double oiling till 20 hours. I have read two hours and I have read ten hours, but I have never read 20 hours...
The Mr. Pike is not a light boat, but I thought this motor should be turning a 17 pitch towards the higher end of the rpm range.
The guy at my prop shop told me to keep running the 13x17 for the next week or two and then he would give me a recomendation on what to do after I exceed 20 hours.
Any thoughts?

If im not mistaken the operation range on the 90 is 4500 to 5500.. I would send the prop out and tell them you need appox. 400 rpm. DOnt just tell them to make it into 15". Alot of times the props are not the size they are stamped. We just sent a new viper 19" wheel and told them we need 200 rpm. It turns out the prop scaned at over 20" in pitch. They made it a true 19" and the RPM's are right on.
I am amazed at the stories I hear on this site. If your dealer is telling you it takes 20 hours to come out of the extra oiling, run down walk away from them and find a different dealer. If your readout was true and the enigne is still in break in mode then something is wrong.

what happened to the speed when the RPM's went down?

When the RPM's dropped off, I lost a couple of miles per hour. To my surprise, when I picked the boat up, they had raised the motor by one mounting hole.
I am going to run it this weekend and I will let you know what happens.
Thanks for the input.
