Good engine, wish there was a post here to help with.
Here are the problems Iam having It won't start after its been sitting awhile and it seems to be flooding or somthing when I go to take off runs fine once it finaly gets on plane my prop is to big I believe It has 24pitch Raker and Iam only pushing 5000rpms at WOT any quik fix ideas?
Need to check behind the carbs on the intake manifolds to see if you have brown gaskets. If you have black gaskets, these need to be changed along with other parts. The early models had issues with the gaskets swelling and making the engine (pass out) on take off and hard to start. The very first thing to do is run compression, if you have off compression, you have other problems. The engine should be around the 95-100 psi range. be aware that all compression gauges differ from one to the other. So long as the cylinders are within about 10-15 psi of each other.
Thanks Rudetech it does have the black gasket How tough is this to do on my own? I can turn some wrenches on regular motors but new to the whole outboard thing I will check compression tomorrow ant let you no thanks for the help one more ? is this a dependable motor?
