Perhaps I misunderstood the process but we just did a 'reprogram' today on a computer for my brother's 01 175 ficht. Picked up a used computer (same part number) used the EV Diagnostics software and the utilities to read the bad computer and then program that all to the new computer. Seems to work and engine runs well so I am unsure I guess.
Oh, I went this route because after several emails and a lot of calls this past week that were only ever answered by a machine that says call back later, I wrote DFI off as a place worth trying.

Did you get a plug to fit to the emm, or was it through the 3 prong plus to read the engine ? My two are a pain to send to the states. Thanks.
Sorry, forgot to say you have to have the proper EMM software version too which we did. Update EMM, transfer data from old EMM to new one. Dealer / service centre needed for the EMM software update, not a DYI project.
Which version do you have Mark?
Of the diagnostic software? 4.2 on one laptop and 5.1 on another.
Engine software? Brother's 175 had 303199_20195 I believe was the software.
