    I don't understand, a 28th amendment?

Why are people against voter ID?,To me, voting one of the most important thing a person can do, and everything should be done to insure it's legality. In search of the 28th amendment to the Constitution

Too many out there voting numerous times by keeping track of the obituaries in the paper..only way some candidates can win. We don't make laws that make sense in this country anymore.

You have to have id to buy beer, cigs, fishing license, hunting license, get into many places and do many things why not for something as important as voting? the only reason someone would not want someone to show id is if they want to make it easier for voter fraud.

We already have a flawed national ID system in place, we just as well form another govt agency that will bloat itself out of control and make another one.

It seems to me everyone who is legal has a Social Security card, seems to me something similar could be issued to everyone who is legal to vote too.

I agree. You have to show ID to use a credit card, buy a fishing license, all kinds of mildly important day-to-day things, Why would requiring someone to show a photo ID to vote in an election be asking too much? Liberals claim the requirement would hinder or prevent the elderly, poor, or disadvantaged from voting. It would also prevent non-citizens, the deceased, and other unqualified people from voting. Which is really, I believe, the point of their objection to voter IDs. There are certainly people in our society, even in this day and age, who have no form of state issued photo identification. But, if you can't produce a state issued photo ID when you show up to vote you should #1: Not be allowed to vote, and #2: You should be given the opportunity (at the polling location) to fill out the necessary documentation and have a photo taken so, at the very least, you could be issued a voter ID card once your identity and legal right to vote is verified. This is just another instance where people should be held personally responsible for completing a simple procedure in order to earn the right to do something. Yet, anyone pointing out that fact is labeled a racist, a bigot, an elitist, or, dear God, a Conservative. I'm with you brother. NO ID, NO VOTE.

If you charge to get a photo voter ID card wouldn't that be kinda like a poll tax?

Looking at the OP's recent started threads leads me to believe that he has a new troll motor rigged up to his keyboard.

You would not believe the e-verify hoops I have to jump through to hire a person. If it is so important to make sure businesses hire American citizens and we (the feds) have a computerized system already in place to do that; why can't the same system be used to qualify people for voting and public assistance?

The problem of ID's isn't logistically it's simple politics and relies on 2 assumptions. Conservatives assume liberals commit voter fraud and liberals assume conservatives don't want poor people who can't prove who they are voting. Put me in the column where I believe both assumptions are correct.

I just don't understand why things that seem so obvious or simple are made into something complicated, If you don't like the quality of my threads feel free to do the simple thing and not respond to them.

I would not have a problem with it if It didn't cost me any money. What other constitutionally protected right do you have to pay to excessive?

Meh, just total the cost of all the photo voter ID cards produced during each campaign and divide the costs equally between the two major political parties. They've certainly got the money to pay for them. If they want the votes, they'll have to pay for them - and the candidates are already used to buying votes.

Do you think the internet, where you are exercising your freedom of speech, is free of expense? You pay for voting through your taxes.

NOTHING is free...not even our freedoms

Willing to try anything to stop illegal aliens and those who choose to feed off the system (wanting more entitlements so they vote multiple times) from voting.

From City of Moline, IL, voter registration website, I've copied the voter registration requirements. Tell me which of these have NO costs associated with them to the registrant:
    What is Needed to Register
You will need two forms of identification, which may include:
    • Bank statement
    • Car registration
    • Checkbook with name / address imprinted
    • Hospital / clinic card
    • Illinois driver's license
    • Insurance / Medicare card
    • Lease
    • Utility bill
