    Lighten Flywheel

I know that this is not the Evinrude forum but I need a little information. Does lightening the flywheel help with the hole shot enough that you can tell a difference? Also who could I contact about getting one done?

2003 250 evinrude. Thanks for any help. Tom

It will depend of how much it can be lightened. If you are only going to remove around a pound then you will not see much. But like on the Mercury where the balancer is removed plus lighten the flywheel there is about 7 to 8 lb reduction and then that will make a difference you can feel.

May be Wayne or one of the HT boys would know more about the Evinrude

    Re: Lighten Flywheel (spider1)

If its anything like the Yamaha where we can take roughly 4 pounds off - you will definitely notice an improvement in holeshot and midrange. It also depends on the boat.......its obviously not going to be as noticeable on a Skeeter or Ranger as it will be on a Stroker or Bullet.
Never seen the Evinrude flywheel but I'm sure the principal is the same and we could figure out how to lighten it up some. Give Jon a call here at Hydro Tec and see what he thinks.
