    225 HPDI 2004

when i run my 2004 225 HPDI above roughly 5300 rpm it starts dragging a little, it's like it's starving for fuel or something. I just changed the fuel filter and it's still doing it. once you back down to 5200 rpm it stops draggin and runs like a dream. It cranks good, no skipping, runs great etc. Any suggestions?

    thanks for the help!

Which filter did you change? There's 3 i can think of... 1 x inline, 1 x Inside the VST at the base of the fuel pump, and the strainer directly after the VST.

    Current: 2006 ~ 20i ~ 250 HPDI ~ T1-25p
    Previous: 2005 ~ ZX 225 ~ 250 HPDI Phase III - TXP 26p

That's just the inline one where the gas enters the engine...

Most of the time when people post about a possible clogged filter they suggest checking the one inside the VST which is the larger aluminum tank on the passenger (port side). The filter is a florescent green color and screws onto the bottom of the fuel pump which is inside the VST.

There's also the strainer which is just above the vst tank and is about the size of a 35mm film canister.

They're the 3 main filters people change out. If you're shop doesn't know about the others and they've never been changed there's every possibility that one of them if not all are long overdue getting looked at. I change all of those yearly on my motor.

I found this link which may help:

I had the same problem, and after i blew it up, i found that I had water in the fuel!!! Took it to a dealer in Indy and they could not figure that out, took to Hydrotec for a new power head and they found the problem. Sounds like the same thing. Hope it helps!!
