Trial #4
Dropped jackplate to about 4" below pad (hard to measure (trailer roller is in the way).
25T1 (dinged up) 6000 RPMs, No partner 68mph, Nice holeshot. Feels better than previous setup.
27 Tempest Plus 5700 RPMs, No partner 69mph, decent holeshot.
Trial #3
Dropped jackplate to about 3" below pad (hard to measure (trailer roller is in the way).
25T1 (dinged up) 6000 RPMs, No partner 68mph, Nice holeshot. Rides higher, require less steering input.
Trial #2
25T1 (dinged up) 6000 RPMs, Full Tourney load w/partner 66mph, Average to good holeshot.
26 Tempest Plus, 5800 RPMs, Just me w/full tanks, 64 mph (seriously).
27 Tempest Plus, 5700 RPMs, Full Tourney load w/partner 67 mph
NOTE: I have removed the Parker RACOR filter. Lost RPM problem is gone.
From previous post.
Trial #1
Picked up my 03 ZX200 w/Yamaha 3.1L Ox66 yesterday from Anglers Marine after having the following installed.
1) HT Phase I Kit
2) Bob's Exhaust Tuner (& Solid Motor Mounts for that matter)
3) HT Velocity Stacks
4) HT Intake Spacer
Baseline (before HT):
6000 RPMs, 25T1 w/some work Mark had done for the previous boat owner (dinged up) w/tourny load (64-66mph, depending on outside temp). Before the T1 was dinged up pretty good I could (65-68mph, depending on outside temp), same RPMs. Average to good holeshot.
Only had a short time to play with props yesterday, and I forgot my 26 Tempest, so I picked up my buddys 27 Tempest that has been BB and tricked out by Mark (buddy runs a Blazer, Hyd Jack Plate, Merc 225 EFI).
Results: Slightly throatier at idle, Slightly better holeshot than T1, very strong up till 5500 RPMs (about 69mph). At that point it felt like the motor had plenty of power to keep pulling, but it slowed quickly and then after a few seconds lost 200 RPMs. Repeated several times with similar results.
Called Anglers Marine, Harland noticed I had a Parker Racor fuel filter / water separator and thought it was causing too much of a pressure drop to support at top end. Makes sense to me, what about the rest of you?
I'm going to remove the Parker filter, replace the Yamaha filter, (and change the plugs while I'm at it) and try my buddy's prop again. Unfortunately it will probably be 2 weeks, ughhhhhh, before I get to run it again.
