    Winter Fuel?

I have a Yam 250Vmax and as winter approaches you are not using the boat as much and it sits. You here stories on both ends about ethanol fuels. How are you to deal with the fuel issues. I hear fill the tank and add stabil and others say use up as much fuel and leave little in tank. Can anyone shed some light on what is the best way to deal with this fuel to not have to deal with water in my tank.

I would add the stabil if you are going to let it sit for up to 3 weeks. Any more than that, get yourself a pump and remove all the fuel from the tank. The next time you go fishing, you can fill up with a fresh tank.

You can put the fuel you removed into your vehicle.

blair, that cant happen, i know most guys dont empty there tanks, plus you have the fuel filters and pumps with fuel in it also. I was hoping there was a way to keep fuel for a 1 month or 2 until weather gets straight. Any other suggestions?

I pull mine out with a pump if it sits over 3 weeks, then just add new fuel when it is time to go fish. The amount of fuel left in the pumps and filters is pretty insignificant when you are placing a bunch of new fuel in prior to running again.

For your application, it sounds like adding marine stabil may be your best bet, but 2 months is pushing it IMHO. 4 to 6 weeks should be fine.

Perhaps some others will chime in with suggestions.

For me, I like removing all the fuel when the boat is not running.......... , but we don't worry about any freezing temperatures down here.......

blair, i know Florida is a fish year round state..got to love that..I some day may move there and never have to worry about winterizing or my boat sitting still for weeks on end due to the cold. I will add more stabil in tank and hope i can get boat out to run every 2-3 weeks and keep topping off with fresh fuel.
