    86 Johson GT 150

Before I get to my engine problem, I was wondering how may of you have had a wheels off fishing day like this one. Got out on the water everything's great hour into fishing I loose a trolling motor battery, dead reading 5.9 volts, I adapt try to make the best out of the day. Decide to try a new spot, going across the water engine starts acting funny but I'll get back to that. Since the engine is not running right I take it to the boat ramp beach and try to start the truck, that battery is dead as well, pull the truck batt. and start it with the boat batt. replace the two batts. to there respected vehicles and trailered the boat. on the way home stop by Academy and exchange the bad batt. since it was still under warranty. head to the house back the boat in and now I found out the trailer has a flat!!!! But I can't complain a bad day of fishing beat's a good day at work anytime! Plus my wife felt so bad for me she was extra nice to me when we went to bed

Now for the engine acting funnywas going across the lake WOT an the engine lost rpm's and slowed 10 mph it didn't miss sputter or anything It was like the throttle was pulled back and it would not reach topend again. Had the carbs rebuilt about 6 mos. ago and its been running fine I'm wondering if maybe some trash made it past the two filters or maybe something slipped. I'm really hoping it something cheap and easy.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump. Was the primer bulb hard?

Yeah that was one ofe the first thing I checked I did forget to mention that there was a small amount of fuel in the engine compartment but I could not find any leaks.

Check the timing link arm that goes to the timer base under the flywheel. It connects to the throttle arm that runs to the cars also. If its danglin', hangin', or missing, you found your problem. The older retainers that were used would fall out while running, Being an 86', your in the area.
