How to prime fuel system after 10 micron install?

Took old 10 micron water separator off, oiled up gasket of new one, screwed it on until gasket made contact plus 1/2 turn per directions on box. I started squeezing primer bulb and it got firm, but no gas in the 10 micron. Do I need to disconnect primer bulb from fuel line to motor, start squeezing until fuel fills the 10 micron filter (i know im gonna need a gas can for the fuel out of the primer bulb), then reconnect primer bulb to motor fuel line?

Is there an easier way like just filling up the water separator with gas, tighten it, prime the system, start the engine, prime it a few times more to get fuel flow primed from tank, and be done? Thanks guys!

This is the easier way. And if you want to clean your engine you can put a decarboning agent in the 10 micron then screw it back on.

The way you discribe it is the way I have always done it. The more fuel you put in the filter the less time it will take to prime the system.
