    trim questions

I have a 2000 175 Ficht, last year the trim stopped working when I was running the boat for the last time. the trim switch on the throttle and motor would not activate the trim. The mechanic checked it all over and couldn't find anything wrong. (of course it worked when I got to the shop).
this spring I take the boat out for the first time, dump it in the lake, and the trim doesn't work, like last fall. no action from either the throttle or motor switches. then I bang the control lever and motor where the switch is, and it works fine all day.
what could be the problem, the mechanic said he checked all the wiring and connections, anything else to look for?

Check your control box for a grounding problem.

Worse case disconnet the big Red plug on the motor and try the trim tilt at the motor.

Trim Relay switches. I had the same problem with my Johnson 60. Sometimes the trim worked sometimes it didn't.
I replaced the relay switches and haven't had a problem since.
