How many hours total? Which SHO? How many hours on the motor Aug 4? This is not unusual? Several of us are working through it. Mine reaked of fuel initially. Make sure you are performing the check the same exact way each time, by the book. I have noticed slight variations in the way I check the dipstick can have 1/2" differences. I realize this is petty, but if it is just a variation in checking technique we shouldn't get to worried. Have you had your 20 hour service? TSB's been performed? Find falcoon's post about stressing the engine trimmed down and follow it. Do you have a Side scanning unit? Are you idling a good bit? I had 65 hours on mine with 42 of them <1000 rpms. I had no idea I was idling that much. It is recommended that your oil level be half way between the 2 fill marks. Get a little hand pump from an auto parts store and pull out a little until you get to this level. It is never a bad idea to change your oil and filter also. This is pretty simple to do, I just did it again last night. You can always call Yamaha customer service with your concerns and see if they want an oil sample to test % of fuel in the oil. My guess is it's less than 5% and "within acceptable limits". I hope this helps. Several of us have dealt with this and many are now progressing past it.

Be mad all you want falcoon... I've followed all the threads... if you don't like it, don't read it...
79hrs on it now... no sign of making oil at the first service.
IF SOMEONE WANTS TO POST THEIR PROBLEMS ON HERE WHO ARE YOU TO TELL THEM THEY CANT. Everyone on here has the right to post what they want and of it does not need to be BuzzB8 will handle it. NCFatBoy post all you want falcoon is not the moderator on this page and cannot tell you what to do. In the past I was guilty of stirring some crap but the fact is we are all here to help one another and if you dont like it dont read it

Agree 100%. Everyone has the right and the need to know how many of these engines are defective.
How do we get from "Don't be lazy and post like this"...
To your statement "WHO ARE YOU TO TELL THEM THEY CANT"
Does anyone know how to read???
Your whole post is unfounded with overreaction.

Let's grant some latitude for both sides regarding recent responses. From it's initial release the SHO has been a lightening rod outside the SHO ownership mainstream. Many solution related processes has been shared add nauseam which can appear redundant. We constantly weed through many comments which has been easy to digress by the haters, doubters, insecure few, those that are truly curious and the rest of us SHO owners too.![]()
This has added to some fears, frustration, security, resolution and relief per the SHO ownership experience. I got some great info from Yamaha on motor durability and it's impressive. Won't share it hear because it will digress. On one of many positive notes those that have the privilege to get behind the wheel with the S.H.O. "GameChanger" it's pure exhilaration. So far to date in my opinion this sums up what is been like to be a SHO owner. Does it have a target on it's back? To some yes because it's a technological direction that is different. Some want us to have a poor experience and some are pulling for us early adopters per our decision to go in that new direction. Those that are pulling for us realize the potential and they may gravitate in our direction in time. We SHO owners are all on the same team. Moving forward Falcoon never said NCFB couldn't post here. He did say the topic was well discussed but your right NCFB can post anything he wants too. To some the SHO is not perfect but to the vast majority of SHO owners it offers many things better. We need to understand it's a process. Tight lines and don't idle to that fishing hole. You doubters and haters thats a joke.

FLY coming from a Merc owner you make me not want to buy a SHO, I mean that. Do you have any idea how many guys would chip in a $100 if your SHO would blow all 6 cylinders tomorrow. I feel sorry for you, guys every day on here call you out (rightfully so), yet you keep on spilling the same crap. I use to enjoy reading the Yamaha forum.
One thing Yamaha stressed to me is not to let it get over the full mark or engine damage can result. They are not concerned if you started at half and it progressed TO full... jut not over. Change that oil and start fresh between the marks.
2022 Xpress H18
Enough about Fly. He doesnÂt get it.
Back to the subject.
I stated before on here that I believe the issue maybe with the engine temperature. Jaime stated that idle temp is 130 and 140 at wot. If oil making is at idle which many think it is than 130F is too low for a 4 stroke. It doest make any sense and itÂs not feasible to have a motor which you canÂt idle. I donÂt know what Yamaha is waiting on but another TSB is in order either for hotter T-stat, hotter plugs or less volume of water.
Rich Sunday I went out and logged the temp. . After running a while I started idling and the temp was 123-127 from 1000 rpms to 3000. I ran from Hollemans to Cary branch wide open and never saw more then 135 temp.
I agree it is a temp issue.

Way too low. What do you think it will be in the colder months? Let me know if you see lower.

This is what I've been told, that Fly just seems to think that his opinion is the only opinion and everyone else is an idiot if they don't agree with him. I'm thinking that needs to change.![]()
