I am looking at use boats that have EFI motors(Merc and Yammy VMAX) and my question is some list hours on the motors but a boat mechanic told me you cannot pull the hours on EFI motors. What gives? Can you get hours or not?

I would love to know the answer as well. Can you pull hours off of a 2003 Yamaha VMAx (200hp 3.1L OX66)?
Not off of a OX66. The HPDI's computer records hours and RPM's, and I'm guessing that the SHO does the same, but not the EFI. I have an hour meter on mine that I installed when I bought my boat.
You can on the Mercury EFI if you know what you are doing.
