2002 225 efi...any known issues?

I am looking at a boat with a 2002 225 efi on it. I have never owned any
Yamaha engines and just wondering if there were/are any known issues
with it?

I believe there was a oil pump recall.

Which EFI is it? OX-66 or HPDI? They are two totally different animals.

A 2002 would be an ox66. Keep the o2 sensor clean, keep an eye out on the lift pumps and clean injectors every couple of years. Good motor but likes to eat some fuel just like the 3L efi Merc.

When I got to the dealer The boat was sold so
I have a new question. What about the HPDI's?

They had 2 other nice boats in my price range. One had a 225 and the other a 250, both HPDI's.

Anything I should know about either of these?
