    What is this plug?

I am flying blind on this yamaha. What is this plug for? This motor came off a boat that was a wiring nightmare. I have the lead for it, one end is plugged in the green plug and the other end is what is in my hand. The lead is long enough to get back to the dash/controls but I don't see anything on the controls for it.

As it is I have tilt and trim along with fire to the starter. I cannot run it until I get some fuel lines in place.

Also this motor has a small oil reservoir under the bonnet and and external tank also. Is the external tank a must of just for convenience?

    89 V6 150.

The small tank undert the cowel is the main oil tank and is feed by the remote tank under the rear compartment. As far as the plug you show in the picture can you tell me what colors of wire go to it I have a wiring diagrahm and might be able to tell what it goes to. From the looks of the plug and the number of pins I think it goes to the remote oil tank sending unit.

Thanks...That helps. While this one is not the oil sending unit I found the one that was and those are now matched up correctly. This one is a green plug under the cowl consisting of green, green/red, yellow, and yellow red.

It might be tight in the battery area with the external oil tank. I was gonna have three batteries and then that...
