    Your 2 cents?

Any idea on what causes these little ring land pins to go away? This be the 2nd time I've had trouble with them.
I think in my engine they just "wore out" due to hours (for the most part).
Guess I'm asking if this is common, OR rather, Is this seen quite often, but mostly in motors with lots of hours/wear?
(by the way, this is not my piston. It's just an illustration photo that I found showing those little pins).
My piston doesn't look that good
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

Pins are there to keep the rings from turning and getting caught in an exhaust or intake port. As the piston moves up and down in the cylinder the ring moves back and forth due to cylinder cross hatch pattern. As this happens the pin gets worked and loosens falls out and in short order you have engine failure. I dont think this happens alot but it does happen. It may have been what caused the failure in my engine.
