What do I need to know about this engine such as oil type, additives for the oil and fuel?
I have ten gallons of optimax oil can I use this in the Yamaha?

Good strong pulling motor and it like the gas and the oil, burns lots of both.
No you can not burn the Optimax oil in the Yamaha, the Optimax oil is designed to spray direct into the motor on the crank bearing and not suppose to be mixed with gas.
Sell the Optimax oil and buy Yamaha lube or Pennzoil plus. Gas you can burn 87 octane and no more than 89 octane. Run Ring Free in every gallon of gas you put in the boat, keeps the carbon build up down.
I recently installed a set of the Carson marine reeds in a 225 Opti and it had oil lines that injected the oil into the manifold behind the reeds.

hpdi does not mix oil with gas? basically ingest it the same way on both motors, from behind reeds and/or bottom of crankcase![]()

Exactly. This is also why you should not add oil to your gas during break-in if this is a new engine.
