    250 hpdi

    this motor is a chore to start in the cold weather,is this normal?another question i have is when i was idling in an area with some stumps my prop hit one causing the motor to kill and when i tried to fire it back up it took a while for it to start also.i'm just a little confused as this is my first hpdi.it's a 09 series 2 any thoughts on this would be helpful.

    Prime with the bulb first, turn the key on, wait 2-3 sec and then crank.

    Nope, it should start very easy no matter the temp.

    Mine takes a split second longer to start on the inttial start up but still fires on the first turn of the key 99.9% of the time.

    uh move back south it's a lil warmer,u can come catch smaller fish here.

    had the same starting issue with mine this past weekend.

    Was 25 or so degrees and I had to crank it for about 15 seconds before it fired up. Even died a couple of times right after starting. Then started up like normal, and didn't have any issues.

    may used 250 hpdi motor doing ok john.Went run it again sun. when started i gas her some gas and it killed a couple times,so i just let it idil for a few minutes then it was good.I still have to learn how to start it,not use to a motor without a chock.

    You cannot give gas to the HPDI in neutral. The engine idles on 4 cylinders in neutral, and the other two kick in when you put it in gear. Put it in gear to warm it up.
