    full synthetic and ring free

I just ordered some Pennzoil full synthetic and plan to change over so I am wondering if those of you who use synthetic oil still use ring free. I'm thinking I might still use the ring free for a few tanks and hope to remove any carbon buildup that might be there.

I run Amsoil Full Synthetic and I still add Ring Free. Carbon not only is a product of the oil burning but gas will produce carbon as well, especially with the crap that they are sticking into nowadays.

I had not thought about the lousy gas but you are right , it is junk for sure. Thanks.

I'd stay with the ringfree as well. Look at it this way, which is going to cost you more? A $12 bottle of ringfree every so often or a blown cylinder block and head?

It's not just the oil that causes carbon buildup. That's why gasoline is called a "hydro<u>carbon</u>" based fuel.

Uhhhh.....where you getting your Ringfree? My last bottle of Ringfree (qt.) was over $35!

BUT YES, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the maintenance it helps to prevent!

Re: full synthetic and ring free (ChampRiderz)

Thanks to a tip from a fellow BBCer, I now have an old Sta-bil bottle with a 50/50 mix of marine stabil and ring free and put 2 ounces of the mix in my tank for every 10 gallons of gas without exception. Makes it easy to do. I also have always run Pennzoil full synthetic at all times.

Dward I'd also like to know where you get ring free at a good price. I paid over forty bucks for the last bottle. I don't mind spending the money to use it but I'm not against saving a little either.

    Re: (BassinBarrister)

I bought 2 of the 12oz bottles from a local shop for $12 at the start of the summer. Not the quart sizes. That shop has since gone belly up in the flat economy.

You can also check your local cycle shops as they sell the same product for the Yamaha bikes & 4 wheelers. I don't have a marine shop within 40 miles of the house anymore. They have all closed.

OK, that makes me feel better. I know my dealer is a little pricey but he's just trying to get through this recession and stay in business but I would feel foolish to be paying over forty when it was available for twelve. I'll just keep buying it from him for now.
