    Yamalube to Amsoil

My warranty is finally up on my 03' 250 HPDI. I've been running Yamalube from the start and just purchased Amsoil HP Injector full synthetic. My oil tank has about 1/4 gallon left in it. Is it OK to mix the two oils?

Feedback on the Amsoil vs. Yamalube. My primary reason for changing was cost $41gal for Yamalube vs. $26gal for Amsoil. Also I feel the full synthetic might give me some added protection.

You can mix them, however .... you will see the difference better if you drain the old out. I did using the nipple hanging off the bottom of the oil tank on the motor. Then using the switch on the back of the motor to pump out the tank in the boat.

    Re: Yamalube to Amsoil (Bump)

I have a tournament this Saturday and might not be able to drain the Yamalube. In the event of that happening.......it won't hurt mechanically to mix them right?

Where is the switch located. By doing this, will it drain the main tank and the aux motor oil at the same time?

    Thanks guys

the switch is right in front of the oil tank. it is a momentary switch which you will have to hold to make the pump run. the nipple is on the bottom of the oil tank and is easy to get to. it probably won't take you more than 15 to 20 minutes to do the whole deal.

When I switched from Yamalube, I just ran my tank down as low as I felt comfortable and dumped in the new oil. No problems.

So I need to take the oil tank out to accomplish this?...right?

Correct.... No need in taking any tank out.

OK, Listen with your good ear...

Pull off the nipple catch on the bottom of the oil tank on the passenger side of the motor.... Let it all drain into a bottle. As it drains, reach behind and move the toggle switch to pump the boats oil tank into the motor tank as it drains. Now it will be empty.

OMG!!!! THAT is INSANE!!!! That Yamalube better be made of GOLD. Thats almost the price of XD100! Seriously, whoever your buying from tell em to get lost. They DO NOT need to make a $20 profit per gal. Dealer cost on a gal of Yamalube is $19-$23 depending on a few factors such as contracts. the most expensive I've found is $32 in my area.

    Thank god I run Amsoil.

Northern California.....what do you expect! Talked to my Yamaha mechanic...his bulk oil has gone up to 22.00per/gal. I guess the question is; based on experience, is Amsoil "better" for my motor or the original Yamalube. I'm always up for trying something new that will be better for my motor in the long run.

    Re: Yamalube to Amsoil (brianranger188vx)

Made the change last fall. Had some smoking issuses with wet plugs with cabon on the plugs. Always ran seafoam and staybil blue in every tank. Engine ran good just smoked some on startup and idle with the plugs being wet. A full 6 gallons of amsoil this season the engine only smokes a puff if the muffler is below the water line when started. Plugs are dry and clean with a nice color on all six. I also don't miss that smell of two stroke on you after fishing.

Re: Yamalube to Amsoil (chevy II)

Most people run most of other oil out first. It will not hurt anything, but you lose the benefit of running a full synthetic and its additives by mixing it with something else. But the data sheets specifically state its compatible to mix
