2006 200 HPDI little bit of smoke

    Hi Guys,

I have a used 2006 HPDI motor. All seems to be running fine. But sometimes when I start it I get a little smoke? With a Direct Injected motor, I did not think I would get much 2 cycle smoke. Dont always get it. I haev done a couple of good 10mile runs and had no issues.

Is this something I should worry about? This motor did not get used much the past couple of years. Only has like 30 hours on it.

With any 2-stroke motor you will get smoke...

Yup I only get a little smoke just sometimes. If it was all the time I would not have been concerned.

Fuel /oil ratios are most likely richer on the oily side due to the newer motors consuming less gas. The block still requires the same amount as the carbed ones! So optis, yami having DI usually exhibit this. They did not have answers for over oiling at the preseason seminars. This is a bigger problem for people that primarily run low rpm most of the time. Feedback requested,Thanks David.

    Thanks,
A little smoke to me means plenty of oil. So as long as it did not mean, a loose ring or something i should have checked out. Thanks for all the comments.

My Ram Fitch did not smoke, and it has 2 bad cylinders, so a little smoke and plenty of oil I guess is a good thing
