    Triton dealership in Paducah closed

I emailed Tammy at Sportsmens Edge in Paducah, KY last night about a few issues that were never resolved on my boat . I got an email back this afternoon that said:

"I do not know if we got any of this or not but we closed for good the first of November. You will have to find a dealer close to you and Carol will take care of you. Thank you for your business. Tammy"

I just called the mechanic that worked there and he said it was true. They came in the 1st with no warning and said we're closed and you have 2 days to pack up and get out. He was not very happy.

Thats a kick in the rear. Warranty work and no dealer close. Oh well, I guess I'll find the next closest one.

If it is engine problems run it by our shop and we will take care of you, sorry i can't help you on boat warranty though. We have had a number of their customers in the shop the last few weeks, i hate to see anybody go out of business, Tammy busted her behind to make that place work from the begining, i wish her and Tony the best of luck in their furture.

This is another example of a business that's been really tough in recent years. Only the dealerships with superior selling skills AND those that are well capitalized have a chance of being there to service your needs in the future. The boat business has a 6 month selling season with 12 month expenses. We may complain about $110 per hour labor rates and 3 week service in the Summer. Dealers are just doing the best they can without laying off employees come September. This is not the same as a new car dealership with fast inventory turnover and 12 month sales. There are no $200 profit sales in this business. Some dealers have been too competitive throughout the selling season, and hasn't made enough $ to last them until the Spring selling season. After all, the boat business still sucks, and has for many, many years. My hat's off to the old, experienced dealerships that are so good at what they do.

Seems to be a little older thread and I'm new to the forums here. First let me introduce myself, Chris Brown, I also purchased a boat from Sportmens Edge back in 2010, a brand new 21XS. I had several problems and now having warranty work done. I sent a email from the triton website to the warranty section. Needless to say expressing my concern of the closing of the dealership and work that was supposed to be taken care of and I was waiting on a phone call that never came. I was contacted by the represenitive of Triton Boats in the Tn area. Very helpful, can not say anything but positive things about how their customer service has been top knotch. Tammy has also spoken to my wife and said that If I needed anything she still was in good contact with Triton Boats. I just took it upon myself finally to get things taken care of. I'm a proud Triton owner, and hope to stay that way.
