    help interpreting pics

I included a few screen shots i'm hoping folks can help me interpret and provide thoughts on how i can tweak setting to get better images.

Screenshot 1: off on right side image, is that a big fish casting shadow or a stump?

shot 2: just a small school of fish i found while catching bait. Should have thrown a few lines out, as it was one of hte few schools i saw all day

shot 3: what's all the white stuff by cusor? first guess was fish, but i saw this quite a bit throughout the day, marked them went back over it and never saw fish on di or 2d?

shot 4: fish near cursor casting shadows, right?

also, you can see i turned the white line on the 2d after the second pic. when do you recommend using this feature and why on the first shot, when i had si range on auto do i get the black sides on si image?

Are you playing back a recording? That could be the only thing I could think of causing that in the first images or changing the area of coverage and it hasn't started the new width yet.

Looks like you've found alot of fish and are on the right direction with interpretation.

No recoding I haven't figured out that out yet. The blacksides showed on screen as soon as I did auto range on si.
I'll try again next time I get out.

    Thanks

What could those lines be in shot 3 and 4? It's not water turbulence is it?

i think you are right on about what you are seeing . but you are moving to slow for your images to be clear. your speeds are 0.3 0.1 and 1.0 mph try going 3 to 5 mph and match your screen speed to your mph. i think you will see a world of difference in your images.

screen speed is set on 1 on all of the images, but agree images at 3 - 5mph are best

that's really what i'm trying to figure out. i think i can interpret most ofthe others, but the lines in 3 and 4 have me puzzeled, as irt was the first time they showed up on the unit

Since they don't shadow I would say it's dfference in bottom composition. Like hard spots or rock, clay.

Humminbird has no minimum speed limit just need movement and match the chart speed to the boat speed as close you can. (One Feature of Humminbird is the ability to adjust chart speed others don't have)
