    ok Rude Dudes Rusty,CM

i was talkin to Rusty one time on my motor cause it dies on takeoff after its started and ran for a while
i went to a tourny yesterday and got to fish with a guy thats a tech at a dealer ship and i got to talkin to him about it and he drove it as well
when i start to get into the throttle on take off it wants to die... i can push in the choke and it will come back to life we did this a few times and it works every time
i have done the link and sync and it didnt work
do my carbs need redone??????its a 1996 johnson 200 venom
and if so how hard of a job is it to do i have a evinrude manual for it and i am pretty mechanicly inclined and tryin to save as much $$ as i can
how much would just the parts be to do the carbs
and is there anyway it might be something else and if so how can i check it?

    thanks guys

If you have to push in the choke to get to keep it from dieing I'm pretty sure that it's running too lean and it's starving for fuel. When was the last time you had the carbs rebuilt?

The intermediate jets are clogged, maybe not all of them but one or two can do it. Have the carbs cleaned and rebuilt, your problem should go away.

Personally, before I tore it down, I would come out 1 round on the air idle screws and see what it does. You said you did sync and link, is the roller touching the pickup arm? Lots of little things there..... but I would try to richen it before I tore it down, then I would check for air leaks and so fourth, warped bowls and low float settings....

    Luke,
first rebuild the carbs and set the floats, clean out the carbs and lap the bowls on some 1200 grit sand paper on a level surface. Clean them with carb cleaner. Soak the jets, and just "touch the bottom" real feel there. The HS jets are bottom out and the drain plug keeps them in if you have the new style "which you should. Check one of the carbs low speed idle before your tear them down. Mark a screwdriver and count the turns to bottom out but just "kiss" the bottom. Note that and do the re-build. Use the initial setting as a starting point. Clockwise in richens the setting, too far in it will run rough, ccw leans them out, and farts back out and won't take throttle. Make sure your head temps are OK. Hope this helps.

Im with WD, back the screws out one turn and try it again. if no improvement.....rebuild the carbs, you could have some low float levels.
