    Blown Motor???

Tournament on 7-18-09 ran about 7 miles on opening run. Not running wide open, RPMS dropped to 4000. No loud bangs, horns or lights. I made it to my first and last fishing spot of the day. Fished for 6 hours. Started motor and limped back to the ramp at 7.5 mph. This is the second time this has happened with my 2004 Yamaha 250 HPDI. First blown at 18 months and now, I'm pretty sure, it has happened again. I will have to pay for it this time.

Well, it's not blown. Just a faulty connection to the coil on #1 cylinder.

Thats good it did not blow. I know how you feel, once you blow a motor every little thing you hear or every sput or spitter with your motor makes you think its gonna blow again. I dont worry too much anymore cause they all blow sooner or later. Hope you dont have any more problems

Thanks! I've got another problem now. Took it to the lake and ran 73.8 gps @ 7200rpms. I don't think so!!! I've got a tach issue now. Where is the rpm reading coming from? Computer, coil, where?

Got wing nuts on your battery? If so replace them with SS hex nuts and lock washers or SS nylon insert nuts. Coil ain't gonna cause that.

Mine has done that every now and then. Was a loose connection on back of tach. I could reach back there and touch some wires and it would straighten out.
