Started the process of replacing the seals in my LU ('85 GT150 but the LU was replaced with a newer unit a few years ago).
I purchased an entire Gear Case Seal Kit # 5006373.
OK I started by attacking the seals in the shift lever. I loosened the shift lever cover and then removed the shift lever. I am wondering now if I even needed to bother with this, but the parts schematic on the BRP website shows that there is a shift lever O-ring underneither the shift lever cover, but I find none and no place to put it???
I am guessing that it trying to show that the O-ring sits between the shift lever cover and the bronze bushing mounted in this cover. I assume that this o-ring is not a user replaceable part??? Do I need to worry about this part leaking or does the the exhaust housing to shift lever grommet seal the shift lever for me?
Also the kit includes a gasket for the shift lever cover which I will obviously have to use now - do I use a real gasket sealer when I put this down, or just coat it good with oil or grease?
