Don, what do you think of this?
Hi Don, Tommy here. Just a quick question for you. My 200 Pro XS I got back in May or so, I noticed oil on the floor right below the foot and I looked where it was coming from and it seems to be coming out of the small holes on the front point of the foot of the motor. The oil is real clean. Do you have any idea what might be going on here with it? Thanks man. Tommy

If it has a strong odor to it then it is gear lube. It is coming from the shift shaft seal and could be due to the gearcase being overfilled or could be from the seals being bad and has water instrusion forcing the lube out.. If is has no strong oder then it could be oil leaking down from the cowl parting line signaling a leaking oil pump or line..

Tommy:
You should certainly NOT be seeing oil seeping from any portion of the midsection or gearcase.
If it's determined to be gear lube, the gearcase should be drained, and then pressure-tested to check for leaks.
Definitely recommend that you get it in, and get it checked to determine the source of the leak (and properly CORRECT the problem).

Don, is this covered under the warranty? Tommy

If the leak was caused by a defect in materials or workmanship, YES (it would be covered under the Factory Warranty Period).

Tommy:
I would recommend that you COMPLETELY drain the gear lube, and then refill... just to ensure that no WATER is present.
That way we won't have to worry about corrosion, or freezing.

I'd pull the prop and thrust washer and check for fishing line. A small piece of braid wrapped around the propshaft behind a thrust washer will damage a propshaft seal.
