I have heard everything from 5400 rpms to 6000 rpms at WOT from various of ppl over the past week. CAlled alot of marine shops and got various of answers from them. CAn somebody tell me the RIGHT reccommend RPM range for a 2002 v-max 150? Also, what are the advantages/disadvantages from turning 5400 to 6000??

Better yet, download the manual to your computer and see what it says. I'm betting 4500-5500 as the max operating range.

You can get the manual from the link pinned to the top of this board. Just enter in your engine and go from there.

Ok, I just checked on a 2000 150 V-Max and it has the "full throttle" range as 4500-5500.

If I were you, I'd prop it to run (when light...one person and little fuel) around 5,700-5,800 RPM's. That way, when it's fully loaded for a tournament, it would be maxed out around 5,500.

I have mine propped to hit near 6000 at wot. It'll hit 6000 in the spring, and around 5800 in summer.

I would prop it for near or at 6000 rpm's at wot.

These 150 VMax carb motors can handle it with no problem!

The advantages of it being propped to hit at the correct rpm's at wot is that, by doing this, your boat/motor will perform at peak performance, & run as effecient as possible, throughout the whole rpm/speed range! From the holeshot all the way to wot. It'll be at the correct rpm range at any speed it is going.
MUCH easier on the motor troughout the whole rpm spectrum!

I probably run mine at wot only around 30 minutes the whole entire season. I usually run it between 4000-5000 rpms most of the time while cruising, but because I have mine propped to hit near that 6000 rpms at wot, it performs great at any speed rpm range

    I'm running a 2007 150 VMax on my 2007 Champion 183cx, with a 10" jackplate / Tempest Plus 23 pitch / all 3 vent holes haivng large opening plugs.
Motor is set at exactly 3-1/2" below pad.
Getting around 18 psi water pressure at wot & 20 psi at cruising speed.

I'm getting 62 gps alone with light gas/load & around 60 gps with 2 people and medium gas/load.
