    I just killed it

    I have a 2005 90hp...tach died...so bein the dumb@$$ I can be..I was moving wires (not disconnecting)Hooked up the muffs this am..it turned over for a few seconds then stopped and started making a cracking sound like it was arcing..even made the sound when I tried the trim...now it does nothing..then next prob how to lift motor w/o power to trim/tilt

    If there was a bad connection, you may have moved it enough to fry some stuff on your engine. See if you can trace each wire to find it.

    For the trim, look at this picture...on the engine bracket about halfway between the transom bolts, there is a screw you can turn to relieve the pressure on the trim system. once it's backed-off a couple of turns, you have to manually lift the engine. Use the engine support to keep it up.
