    2004 HPDI 250 help

What can I do to make it so my hpdi 250 will last longer. I have seen all the post of blowen hpdi. Is there any thing I can do to prevent that? I would rather fix or replace problem before it happends.

I got the boat used from dealer last June 60hrs asked about updates (oil pump) he said that sould be all upto date. Was in local dealer one day they ran my yamaha ser# and it neaded oil pump update/recall didn't get oil pump from yamaha till October. Was there damage done but not seen yet.

I was at boat ramp yesterday and guy asked about my 250 he has blowen 2 power heads. after last one boat is much faster. Was power unit replaced with series II?

Can I replace my 250 power head with series II.

I have walleye boat with long shaft and I don't think you can get HPDI 250 with long shaft 25".

Use good gas that doesn't sit in the gas station tank for too long. Use ringfree or sea foam to help remove carbon. And be sure all updates are current. Oh, and be sure to use a fuel/water seperator.

    Thanks for the info
I have been doing those things. It seems like everyone I talk to has blown one up. Buddy was with me last weekend and was wondering why I trolled down the lake a 1/2 mile before I got on motor then I told him about motor.

I doubt I'm the only one but I've got an 03 HPDI on a 201 PRO XL DC and she runs as strong now as she did brand new. I use SeaFoam every time I add gasoline. I change the plugs out every year and about every other year I use a can of Power tune in the cylinders. I have known 2 guys that blew a head but neither of the used Ring Free or SeaFoam. That stuff is critical. I also clean out my poppit valve anytime I notice a reduction in water pressure.
