    2000 powerhead upgrade


    Hello guys,

    I recently purchased a boat with a 1998 175 Evinrude FICHT outboard. The previous owner had trouble with the powerhead and in June of 2000 OMC sent him a new powerhead. Would the new power head be a FICHT ram powerhead or a FICHT power head?

    Also, can I use the xd100 oil? I have purchased a case of the xd50 and I was thinking about turning it in for a case of xd100.

    If the motor computer (ECU) is on top of the engine and has fins for air cooling, is still a 1998 engine block. Also you can tell if the injectors use a big hex nut to fasten each one to the cylinder head.

    A FICHT Ram uses a water cooled computer that has a black plastic face on it that says FICHT. Also there is an exhaust backpressure sensor tube in the lower stb. side of the block, and the motor uses 3 thermostats and has a pressure relief valve at the lower port side of the engine.
