    Extened Warranty Options?

I'm looking to purchase a boat with a Yamaha outboard that is no longer under factory warranty. Can an extended warranty be purchased from a provider? I called a couple of companies and they won't offer an extension.

Yes it can be purchased depending on the year of the motor. I bought a 2005 Skeeter with a yamaha and I was able to purchase a Y.E.S. warranty for 2 years. You have to get a certified yamaha mechanic to clear the motor from any major defects before you can get the warranty. The newer the year the cheaper the warranty will be. I'm not sure how far back you can go on years though. The average price I found was around 2100. Oh and the warranty you purchase is actually through Yamaha and covers everything except electrical, starter, water pump, and other things that are general maintence. It also will not cover anything that is proved to be caused by the owners negligence or fault.
