My 03 OX66 225 had some fuel pump issues that cost me a tournament win (I had the winning bag in the boat and couldnt make it back) and I just wanted to thank everyone on this board who helped me not only fix the problem, but save me some serious money! I love to fish and unfortunetly due to some medical issues and meds (with no health insurance) I dont have alot of excess money to spend on taking it to a repair shop...
The weird part of the story....... I bought three low pressure fuel pumps and replaced them. Took the boat out for a test run with a buddy, and the damn thing didnt even start. Brought it back to the house, tore apart the High Pressure pump(read about it on here) and my buddy checked the continuity with a multi-meter of the electric pump inside. Come to find out, IT WAS TOAST. It had no current. I was so disappointed. My buddy took it apart alittle bit figuring it was a lost cause anyway so lets see how it works. He tighted one of the nodes and just for the heck of it, checked the continuity again. As sure as dog do, it had continuity. We hooked it back up to the electronics and turned the key over onto the on position and it WORKED! It was the craziest thing ever! We both looked at eachother and couldnt believe it. I have no idea what made that thing decide to work but it did. Put it all back together, took the boat back out and it ran like a wild beast again! Call it lucky but I was thrilled! Without your help it, I wouldnt have even know where to begin!
All in all, my boat is my release. Without it, like many of you im sure, I'd go insane. So thanks to all of you for the tips, where to by the parts I needed (boats.net)at an awesome price and the knowledge of how to fix it! The folks on this board really know what they are talking about! I really appreciate all of it!
Thanks again!![]()
