    Ox66 fuel pump diaphrams

There were some posts about replacing these a while back.My motor is a 1999 225hp ox66 and want to know where to get them and how to do it as I'm very mechanically inclined and dont mind doing it. It has some of the symptoms as described on the earlier posts like dieing at idle, sluggish when taking off but runs fine on topend. The o2 sensor was changed 2 years ago but have never changed the diaphrams. Seems like someone had posted iboats for the parts.

Re: Ox66 fuel pump diaphrams (kensafishin)

I replaced my pumps a few months back. I got everything I needed from boats.net, replaced 2 with complete pumps and rebuilt the 3rd pump for around 140.00 shipping included. They are real easy cut a couple of cable ties remove 2 bolts the pump should come off. remove 2 or 4 screws from the pump replace the diaphrams and gaskets. When you go to Boats.net it will give you a breakdown of every part needed I took that same picture and printed to use as a reference in case I needed it.

How do you know whether to replace or rebuild the pumps?

Go ahead and buy the pump, they are about $36 each (3 total). (no rebuilding required)
Each pump has (2) bolts and (2) small hoses (one in and one out)
Look at the port side of the motor (left side looking from the rear forward)
Take the (2) bolts out of the top pump and remove the (2) hoses, reconnect the (2) hoses to the new pump, reinstall the (2) bolts and your done w/ that pump. Repeat w/ the other (2) pumps.
I'm not mechanically inclined and I did mine (all three) in 30 minutes.
    Good luck.

Thanks Lee, I just looked them up on boats.net.Is there any more filters to change while I'm at it,the large fuel filter on the same side or any inline that I'm missing?

Yes there are some pumps you could change, but as I noted before I'm not very good w/ the wrenches so I usually leave that to someone else.

Re: Ox66 fuel pump diaphrams (Greenwing)

I have ordered my new pumps and was looking at the location of them. The second pumps seems like it might not come off witout removing the main pump housing. Is this correct or is there enough room to get it out. Just thinking ahead. My pumps should be here monday.

    Thanks
    Shannon

Yes, you must at least remove the bolts and move the main pump housing aside. It is not necessary to remove the hoses, just move the whole assembly aside, then reattach the bolts.

Just put my new pumps on today. What a difference!! Its a whole new Yamaha. Smoother idling, more power and less smoke! If your having any fuel problems like RPM's falling off or rough idling, check this first. They are easy to change and cheap at boats.net.

I'm not seeing the pumps for an 01 225 OX66 EFI on boats.net. I see one for the 200. Would that work? Also is it the Fuel pump Assembly that you guys are changing out?

Re: Ox66 fuel pump diaphrams (Tamale)

There are different pumps for different years. You need to check to make sure you get the right ones. I order mine from a parker dealership at $40.00 each. Very easy to change the top and bottom pumps. Just remove the two bolts holding the pump in place, remove the plastic ties from two rubber hoses that are attached to the pumps and replace the gaskets. The middle one is just as easy but you have to remove the bolts from the VST filter housing and move it to the side. Be sure to watch out for the washers on the end of the bolts with the VST housing. Don't ask me how I know. The one thing that you also have to be carefull about is when removing the hoses from the pumps. I damaged one and had to order one as the five Yamaha dealerships I checked did not carry in stock. It a cake walk to do the pumps.........
