I'd be too worried about it voiding the warranty.
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
Heard from a source I trust that there have been some problems after reflashing them. Thought about it but do not want to pay hundreds of dollars to buy a headache. Would be nice to buy the 300 offshore series ECU and give that a try if its do able but I am not sure.
They have no way of telling if it has been flashed.

I don't buy this statement....Maybe a dealer can't but I am sure that Yamaha can tell that the software has been tampered with...
Are any gains worth this risk??? Unless of course, you are racing or fooling around with an unlimited budget....

I was just curious. I wouldn't do it, but I have spoken with a Yamaha rep off the record and he says they have no way to prove that it was done.
Does anybody know what the cost is to have them do the reflash? My thought on the void the warranty if you have a power head failure I bet they never look at ecu programming. Unless your a door knob and tell them you did it.
They have no way of telling that it's been reflashed. (I can see that)
They wouldn't have a clue as to how much better it runs. How fast it gains RPM's (I can see that too)
BUT, They would surely be able to tell how many RPM's it's seen.
OR, is the plan to increase the hp enough to enable you to run a bigger prop, and still retain the rev limiter?
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........
It's $600 to bump up to 250 hp. The goal would be to run a bigger prop while still maintaining 6000 rpms.

I read something about doing away with, or raising the rev limiter. Guess that's a no-no if one's still under warranty?
Wonder what's available (increase) for a 250SHO?

Maybe Wayne from Hydro Tec will stop by and answer these questions as Hydro Tec can reflash the ECM on the SHOs.

I know that can be done also because I've seen a video of a 250 SHO on a Majek bay boat run 84 mph. I talked to the guy who rigged it and said it was turning over 7k![]()
I just talked to Matt at HT the other day about reprogramming my ecu he said to call Simon motor sports. This data can be checked but most marine dealers are not going to have what it takes to get at and read it. There is a lot of time and money spent by a company to make up these programs so there is nothing easy about reading it and it is also not easy to change it.
Granted this is on a Stroker but it is a modified 225 SHO. I just wish they had a comparison as to what the boat ran before the mods.

Ditto on that story. I spoke with the service dealer for that rig and they said the same thing. The dealer also warned the guy to stop posting that info because with the prop he was running and a little math anyone could see he was spinning around 7,000. Dealer also said that the owner had 2 ECUs - stock and hot. All from a service guy who drove the boat. Just passing it on.
